B8.5 SwitchBack DRL Kit
These boards stick to the OEM+ mantra of many in the Audi modding community. They provide “switchback” functionality which updates the B8.5 A4/S4 and A5/S5 with a more modern approach to DRLs and turn signals. They include a high power Amber LED in addition to a factory equivalent White LED. With the help of some quick programming using VCDS (or similar) you can enable the function to use your DRL tubes as turn signals. The White LEDs will turn off and Amber LEDs will blink with input from the turn signal. All wiring for the white LED is retained and power is simply passed through the control module to the DRL boards to ensure no error codes are thrown due to the installation of this upgrade. The amber LED used on this board has been selected to perfectly match the other amber signals like the side markers and mirror lights. It is also a good match to the brightness of the factory white LED when the DRL is set to default brightness. (It’s common for people to increase this brightness using coding in VCDS). To power the turn signal you just need to tap into the two wires which power the factory halogen turn signal bulbs. You can continue to use halogen bulbs in addition to the amber LEDs if you so desire (This is recommended if your vehicle is a daily driver. Modifying your turn signaling may be against the law in your area.)
Instructions are linked below for the install of these kits. They do require some long coding in VCDS to enable switchback, but don’t require you to code out any bulb warnings.
